Bulldog Fans,
We've had a very exciting and successful winter highlighted by a men's basketball divisional conference championship and a bevy of individual awards including a Coach of the Year award, a freshman miler qualifying for the NCAA indoor championship, two First Team All-CCHA selections for Bulldog Hockey and some exceptional academic achievements by so many young people in our program. As men's basketball and hockey gear up for post season play this weekend several other Bulldog Spring sports are beginning their seasons. It's a special time of the year - Go Bulldogs!
Bulldogs Begin CCHA Tournament Play
Ferris State begins its quest for the Mason Cup as the 2011 CCHA
Tournament Champions this weekend (March 11-13) against Western
Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. The winner of the best-of-three
quarterfinal-round series will advance to the 2011 CCHA
Championships (March 18-19) at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.
The Bulldogs, under head coach Bob
Daniels, are presently 17-14-5 overall and placed
fifth in the CCHA regular-season standings with 43 league points.

Redmond and Nagle Named All-CCHA First Team
A pair of Ferris State men's ice hockey seniors,
defenseman Zach Redmond and goaltender Pat
Nagle have been named to the 2010-11 All-CCHA First
Team as voted by the league's head coaches. (Click for release). Redmond, the 2010-11 FSU team
captain, leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points
on seven goals and 13 assists while Nagle has registered a
17-12-5 record while ranking third nationally in goals-against
average (1.97) and save percentage (.924) to date. Both
are also candidates for the 2010-11 Hobey Baker Memorial Award as
the nation's top collegiate player. (Click for release).
Billins Earns FSU's CCHA Scholar-Athlete
Award
Chad Billins, a junior on men's ice hockey
team, has been designated as Ferris State's CCHA Scholar-Athlete of
the Year representative. A marketing major, Billings will now
be under consideration for the 2010-11 CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the
Year Award to be presented at the 2011 CCHA Awards Banquet
next Thursday, March 17, at Fox Theatre in Detroit, Mich.
Chad was a two-time (Oct. 10 and Nov. 29) winner of the CCHA
Defenseman of the Week honor. (Click for release).
Men's Basketball Crowned GLIAC North Division
Champions!
Congratulations to our men's basketball team, who claimed the Great
Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Championship with a
thrilling come-from-behind 84-66 home victory over nationally
third-ranked Findlay on Feb. 19. (Click

Sall along with his staff and the 13
student-athletes on the 2010-11 team have performed admirably
throughout the campaign. This represents our second GLIAC
title this 2010-11 athletics season as our men's golf
team hoisted a conference championship trophy in the
fall.
Men's Basketball Alumni Return To Celebrate 1,000th
Win
The Bulldog men's basketball program held a special "1,000 Wins
Celebration" on Feb. 26 during the GLIAC matchup with
Grand Valley State as more than 40 former players and staff were
present to be recognized. Several former players and coaches,
including Tom Ludwig and Dean
Davenport, along with Emma Wink, the wife
of Bulldog legendary coach Jim Wink were in
attendance. Ferris State has made 13 national tournament
appearances and has been crowned GLIAC Champions 12
times.
NCAA Tournament Bound
Our men's basketball team will be participating in the 2011 NCAA
Midwest Regional Tournament this Saturday (March 12) against Wayne
State on the campus of Bellarmine University in Louisville,
Ky. The Bulldogs, who are seeded sixth, will face third-seed
Wayne State in quarterfinal round play starting at 12 p.m.
(ET). This Sunday's (March 13) regional semifinal games will
be played in the evening with the championship game set for Tuesday
(March 15) at 7 p.m. (ET) in the single-elimination
tournament. Ferris State is making its first NCAA Tourney
appearance since the 2005-06 season. (Click

Conference Scoring Leader
Senior forward Justin
Keenan of the men's basketball team became the
GLIAC's all-time scoring leader in the regular-season finale
contest against Grand Valley State (Feb. 26), which also featured a
record-crowd of 2,443 fans. Justin was also recently
featured on in a NCAA.com story (Click

All-Conference Recognition
The success achieved by the Bulldog men's basketball team this
season carried over to the GLIAC post-season awards as three
student-athletes earned all-conference honors and head coach
Bill Sall was named GLIAC Coach of the
Year. Senior forward Justin
Keenan earned the GLIAC's Player of the Year Award
while senior guard Darien
Gay joined him on the All-GLIAC North Division First
Team. Lou
Williams, a senior forward, achieved second-team
all-league recognition and was a GLIAC All-Defensive Team
pick. Junior guard Dontae
Molden joined Williams on the

Eight men's ice hockey senior student-athletes on the 2010-11
team were honored prior to their last home game on Feb. 19.

home win over Grand Valley State (Feb. 26). Men's basketball

Williams were all acknowledged prior
to making their final regular-season home appearance on Feb.
26 versus Grand Valley
State.
Eight Sports Sign Impressive Recruits
The foundation for having successful teams is being able to attract
quality student-athletes. The Ferris State football
program announced its recruiting class in early February which is
presently comprised of 31 individuals. (Click for article). Along with football, women's

Representing Our Country
Lisa Tobiczyk, who will be a senior on the
2011 Bulldog women's volleyball team, recently participated in the
U.S. Women's Volleyball National Team Open Tryouts from (Feb.
25-27) at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs,

Freshman Qualifies For Nationals
Freshman Samantha Johnson has qualified for the
2011 NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships (March
11-12) in Albuquerque, N.M. Johnson will be compete in the
women's mile run after placing fifth with a qualifying 5:01.27 time
at the 2011 GLIAC Indoor Championships. (Click for article).
Bulldogs In The Community
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Fellowship of Christian
Students at Ferris State are spending the upcoming spring break
period (May 4-12) in Port Gibson, Miss., volunteering their
time in housing construction/repair
projects. Pastor Mike Wissink, who serves as the team
chaplain for several Bulldog athletic teams, is directing this
effort.
Ashley Huntey, a women's volleyball student-athlete, will be the leader of a group taking a mission trip to Jamaica over spring break. Huntey along with some of her teammates will be volunteering at a school for the deaf and assisting primarily with physical labor activities.
Weightroom Renovation Project
I'm pleased to announce our weightroom within the Ewigleben Sports
Complex will be undergoing renovations this spring for about a
month. The renovation plans call for new weight and cardio
equipment along with new flooring, lighting, and ventilation.
I want to express my sincere thanks to President Dr. David
Eisler and Vice-President of Administration and Finance Jerry Scoby
for their support in making this happen.
Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA)
We continue to work hard on the growth and development of the BAA
and our annual fundraising efforts. Our goal is to have 1,000
donors contributing a minimum of $250 annually for scholarships and
