Bemidji, Minn. - For the first time in school history, the Ferris State University women's soccer team will play in the NCAA Final Four after eliminating the Central Region champion and host Bemidji State Beavers 2-0 at Chet Anderson Field in the National Quarterfinal round on Sunday (Nov. 20).

On its trip to the National Semifinals, the Bulldogs have defeated four teams seeded above them, the reigning national champions, and two different site hosts. 

With the win, Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei broke the school's all-time career shutouts record, passing Rachel McCollum with her 20th career clean sheet.

The Midwest Regional Champion Bulldogs played the Central Champion Beavers to a 0-0 deadlock through the first 45 minutes of play, though the Bulldogs dominated possesion with a 10-2 shots edge.

Early in the second half, the Bulldogs broke through on a set-piece. Ferris State senior Payton Price connected with a header on the service from sophomore Lindsay Cole at 53:00 for the 1-0 Bulldog lead and eventual game-winning goal. The goal was Price's sixth of the campaign, while Cole earned her fifth assist of the year.

It took the Bulldogs only 3:13 to extend their lead to 2-0, when the Beavers gave the ball directly to senior Nikki May, who sprinted down the right side and let loose a hard shot for the top left corner and her fifth goal of the year.

While the Beavers pressed for the equalizer, Ferris State locked down defensively. Mosallaei made four saves in the victory in goal for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State finished with a 16-14 edge in shots, with a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Bulldogs earned five corner tries and allowed the Beavers three.

The Bulldogs join Western Washington, West Chester, and Columbus State in the Final Four, which will be played in Seattle (Wash.) on December 1 and 3.
