Big Rapids, Mich. - Two members of the 2012 Ferris State University women's soccer squad were recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Midwest All-Region Team.
Junior defender Amanda Foster (Byron Center/South Christian) was among the second-team all-region choices in voting by member head coaches while sophomore midfielder Riley Wood (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern) claimed third-team accolades.
A three-year letterwinner, Foster played a key role as a defensive leader for the Bulldogs in her junior campaign as she started all 19 contests and played a squad-high 1,677 total minutes. Previously, Foster was an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Second Team choice for the 2012 season.
Meanwhile, Wood led the Bulldogs in both scoring with 18 points and in goals with eight total in her sophomore campaign. She played in all 19 outings as well and totaled 25 shots with 14 coming on goal. Her totals included three game-winning markers.
The Ferris State women's soccer team made its third consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this fall and advanced to the semifinals for only the second time in school history.
The Bulldogs concluded the 2012 campaign with a 9-7-3 overall record under head coach Matt Kellogg.
