FSU Women's Soccer Inks Seven Prep Players
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer program has bolstered its lineup as seven talented prep student-athletes have signed national letters-of-intent to compete for the Bulldogs starting in the fall 2012 season.
The announcement of this year's signing class was made by head coach Matt Kellogg, who will embark on this third season at the helm this fall and has guided FSU to back-to-back trips to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament.
This year's signees include forward Nichole Boehnke (Grand Blanc), defender/forward Hunter Dolan (Chesterfield/Anchor Bay), goalkeeper Madelyn Haustein (Novi), defender/midfielder Amanda Mathy (Clinton Township/Fraser), defender Lindsey Scott (Howell/Hartland), forward Casey Shauman (Portage) along with defender Natalie Tuscany (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford II).
"I am excited to see what this class will be able to do for us in the fall," Kellogg said. "We have some very gifted players in the class that will be able to come in and compete right away and help us win games in their first season.
"The class will add depth to all areas of the field for us and help create a competitive daily training environment that will hopefully translate into more wins for us," he added. "I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone in the class over the last year or so and know that they are great people off the field and will be great teammates."
Additional recruits may still be added to this year's recruiting class, according to Kellogg.
Ferris State finished the 2011 campaign with a 7-9-3 overall record and reached the GLIAC Postseason Tournament for the second-straight year. Last fall's appearance in the tournament represented the program's fourth ever as the Bulldogs also made the tournament in 2007 and 2008 before the back-to-back trips in 2010 and 2011.
