Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team will host Lewis (Ill.) in a preseason exhibition contest this Sunday (Aug. 21) morning.
The matchup gets underway at 11 a.m. (ET) and will take place at the FSU Soccer Field located on campus in Big Rapids. All fans are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Bulldogs, who will be guided by second-year head coach Matt Kellogg, reported for fall camp this past Sunday (Aug. 14).
Sunday's match is the first of two exhibition contests for the Bulldogs, who will also visit Davenport next Tuesday (Aug. 23) for an evening contest.
The Bulldogs officially start the regular-season by traveling to Indianapolis over Labor Day weekend for a pair of non-league outings against host Indianapolis on Sept. 2 and Drury (Mo.) on Sept. 4.
Ferris State opens its home slate facing Saginaw Valley State on Sept. 9 in what represents the Bulldogs' Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opener. FSU continues the five-match homestand with Northwood (Sept. 11), Madonna (Sept. 14), Northern Michigan (Sept. 16), and Michigan Tech (Sept. 18) on the docket. The lone non-conference tilt during that stretch is the Sept. 14 meeting with Madonna.
Overall, Ferris State will play 18 regular-season matches during the 2011 regular season, highlighted by eight home matches.
Ferris State registered a 7-9-3 overall record for the 2010 campaign as the Bulldogs finished fourth in the GLIAC's North Division with a 7-6-2 conference ledger. FSU also made its third GLIAC Tournament appearance in the program's history.
