Ferris State Women's Basketball Home Opener This Sunday Afternoon
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad will play its home opener on Sunday (Nov. 16) inside Jim Wink Arena.
The Bulldogs, who are off to a 2-1 start this year, will host Drury (Mo.) in regional action at Wink Arena with tipoff set for 2 p.m. (ET).
Sunday's home opener will be carried live on local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with an online audio broadcast available at FerrisStateBulldogs.com. Additionally, a video pay-per-view stream will be offered on FloCollege.
Ferris State won two of three games last weekend at the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Tipoff Classic in Erie (Pa.), which included a season-opening win over preseason #4 North Georgia along with a convincing win over California (Pa.) to conclude the event. The lone setback came 73-70 to preseason #2 Union (Tenn.).
The Panthers will play their season opener against FSU on Sunday, opening a two-game trip to Michigan that also includes a visit to Saginaw Valley State next Tuesday. DU went 22-7 overall a year ago and was picked to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) this campaign behind the return of seven letter winners.
Sunday's matchup will mark the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs with FSU holding a 4-2 edge to date. The Bulldogs beat Drury last year by a 81-77 score in Springfield (Mo.) and won the only previous meeting in Big Rapids by a 91-87 count back in 2006-07.
The contest represents one of only two FSU home games prior to the Christmas holiday with the second coming on Nov. 26 as part of a men's and women's non-league doubleheader the day prior to Thanksgiving.
