Big Offensive Output Keeps FSU Unbeaten In GLIAC Women's Basketball Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball team scored 35 second-quarter points in a decisive 96-43 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over Roosevelt on Saturday (Dec. 7) in Chicago.

FSU took a 17-10 lead after the opening period in the league battle, which marked RU's first conference matchup against the Bulldogs. In the second stanza, the Bulldogs rolled to a 35-12 margin and Ferris State then recorded 22 points in each of its final two periods of play.

Five Bulldog players reached double-figure scoring in the win as FSU was led by guard Kadyn Blanchard with 22 points overall. Junior Elle Irwin finished with 17 points, Emma Schierbeek tallied 14 points off the bench while Mya Hiram scored 12 points and Kenzie Bowers finished with 11 points.

The Bulldogs shot at a 51.4% clip overall, which included an impessive 16-of-29 (55.2%) display from the three-point line and a four-of-six (66.7%) showing at the free throw stripe.

Ferris State pulled down 15 offensive boards and came away with a 43-33 edge on the glass overall.

The Bulldogs also came away with 13 steals in the game and FSU dished out 29 assists, including six from sophomore Claire Erickson.

RU shot only 26.4% from the field and went four-of-25 (16.0%) from the three-point arc.

Ferris State, which is now 7-2 overall, will hit the floor again on Dec. 18 at Hillsdale with tipoff set for 6 p.m. (ET) FSU then hosts Illinois-Springfield on Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. (ET).
