Bulldog Women's Basketball Drops Final Game On Trip To Kansas This Weekend

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad closed out its weekend trip to Kansas with a 89-55 setback to Central Missouri on Saturday (Nov. 19) afternoon at the Pitt State Classic in Pittsburg, Kan.

The Bulldogs fell behind 22-16 after one period and were outscored 24-11 in the second period as Central Missouri broke the game open. FSU managed to in the third quarter 20-19, but CMU tallied 24 points in the final 10 minutes to only eight for the Bulldogs to account for the final margin.

Junior forward Rachel McInerney tallied a team-high 15 points for the Bulldogs in the setback. She was the lone FSU player to reach double-figure scoring with junior guard Leah Humes adding nine points and freshman guard Renee Strum totaling eight points.

FSU was held to only 34% shooting and went one-of-six (16.7%) from three-point range along with an impressive 24-of-27 (88.9%) showing at the free throw stripe.

Meanwhile, Central Missouri got a game-high 30 points from Paige Redmond in improving to 3-1 overall this season. Both Ashley Duffy and Kayonna Lee added 13 points apiece in the win.

Central Missouri connected on 48.3% of its field goal tries and went 11-of-26 (42.3%) beyond the three-point line. They also made 20-of-27 (74.1%) free throws.

Overall, FSU won the rebounding battle 34-29 and came down with nine offensive board. McInerney led the Bulldogs with 10 boards in a double-double showing.

Ferris State also finished with five asists and two steals, but turned the ball over 24 times on the day. CMU netted 11 assists, eight steals and a blocked shot with only 10 turnovers.

The points off turnovers favored Central Missouri by a 30-7 count and they also outscored the Bulldogs 32-22 in the paint.

Ferris State will return home to host Lewis (Ill.) next Sunday, Nov. 27, at FSU's Jim Wink Arena. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET).
