Ferris State Falls To Findlay In Regional Road Game In Ohio

FINDLAY, Ohio — The Ferris State University men's basketball squad fell to the University of Findlay, 102-70, at Croy Gymnasium on Wednesday (Nov. 19) night in Ohio.

In the regional road game, the Oilers forced 21 Bulldog turnovers as UF capitalized with 27 points off those mistakes in staying unbeaten on the year.

Ferris State opened the game with a layup from Donovan Brown-Boyd in the opening minute. Despite strong efforts on the offensive boards, securing 11 rebounds, the Bulldogs struggled to maintain possession, however, committing 14 turnovers in the half. Senior Tyler Hamilton contributed a three-pointer at 17:31, keeping the team within reach early on. However, Findlay's defensive pressure and fast-break opportunities led to a decisive advantage, resulting in a 59–24 lead by the end of the first half.

FSU mounted a determined effort in the second half, highlighted by Brown-Boyd's three-pointer at the 1:37 mark, which was part of their 46-point contribution in the half. Despite their offensive push, they faced challenges in narrowing the deficit, with Findlay maintaining a significant lead. The Bulldogs managed to capitalize on some defensive plays, including senior Brandon Claerbaut's steal at 2:32, but ultimately, the game concluded with Findlay securing the victory.

Brown-Boyd led the team with 17 points, including two three-pointers, and gathered nine rebounds. Senior Mykel Bingham contributed 10 points and added four rebounds, while also recording one block. Chang Hoth scored nine points and connected on one three. Claerbaut posted five points and grabbed six rebounds, alongside two steals.

Mason Brandt led Findlay with 14 points, connecting on six-of-11 field goals, and contributed significantly on the boards with nine rebounds. Mekhi Elmore added 12 points and matched Brandt's defensive effort with two steals. Anthony Johnson was effective on both ends, scoring 10 points and grabbing three steals. Ian Ioppolo contributed a team-high 15 points, shooting six-of-11 from the field, and added four rebounds and an assist.

The Bulldogs will play their home opener inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena next Wednesday, Nov. 26, with tipoff set for 3 p.m. (ET) following Ferris State's women's basketball home game versus Hillsdale.
