Testemonials

Below are a few testemonials from past student workers and interns who have continuned on in the sports field after working for Ferris State Athletics!

“If it wasn’t for my internship in the athletic department at Ferris State and working all those volunteer hours, there’s no way I would be where I’m at today. This is truly a unique, incredible experience for people looking to get into the world of college athletics!”

– Tyler Weedon (Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Operations & Sales at Georgia Southern Athletics)

“I would not have started my career in the Sports Industry without my internships with the Athletic Department.  I learned how to sell, communicate, organize events, and execute business plans.  All of these skills have been used multiple times throughout my career.  My first hiring manager referenced my sales internship as one of the driving forces for hiring me at the Indiana Pacers.  I highly recommend securing as many of these internships as possible!”

– Eric Cole (Learfield IMG College)

“My experience in the Ferris State Athletic department was invaluable for my professional development. I was fortunate to be surrounded by so many great mentors in the program. The knowledge, skills, and work experience I gained helped build a strong foundation for future success.”

- Sean Schmidt ‘09 (Equipment Manager, Cornell University)

Working at Ferris Athletics allowed me to explore my passions with tons of creative freedom. I was given countless opportunities to create what I wanted to and gain real world experience. There is no question that without the athletic department I would not be where I am today, working full-time, creating videos for Michigan State University. It was truly an experience I would not trade for the world.

- Conner Pyrc (Producer at Spartan Vision, Michigan State University)

Working with Ferris Athletics single-handedly was the most important thing I did in college. I wouldn't be in the position I'm in right now without the help of Rob Bentley, Harrison Watt, Perk Weisenburger, and all the other staff along the way. I gained hands-on experience that prepared me for what I want to do in the future and have experiences and friends that will last a lifetime. I had the opportunity to color-commentate and report on-ice inside of an NHL stadium, a dream I've had ever since I was a kid. I was given the opportunity to work a National Championship game in football and work alongside the 2018 National Championship Men's Basketball team. Coming into college, I had no prior experience working with athletics or with graphic design of any sort and throughout my four years, I was able to build on my skills with the help and encouragement from Rob and Harrison. I'm grateful for everything and appreciate everything that Ferris Athletics has done for me.
