Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior women's cross
country standout Tina Muir (St. Albans, U.K.) was
tabbed as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (GLIAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
The announcement was made today (Oct. 21) by the league office.
Muir helped the Bulldogs to a 16th-place team finish in the
prestigious Penn State National meet held last Saturday (Oct. 16)
in State College, Pa. She spearheaded FSU's team
performance with a 16th-place individual showing by clocking 21:13
overall on the 6K course. FSU finished second among only five
non-NCAA Division I schools competing on the Blue & White Golf
Courses.
To date this season, Muir has placed among the top 17 finishers in
all three of her races with one first-place performance.
A year ago, Muir took 12th place overall for the second-straight
year at the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships in earning
All-America honors for the second consecutive campaign. Muir,
who was last year's regional champion and GLIAC Runner of the Year,
won all five of her races last season prior to the national
championships.
Ferris State is presently ranked ninth nationally this season in
the most recent United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCA) Division II Poll along with second in the
Midwest Regional listing.
Selected Bulldog team members will compete this Saturday (Oct. 23)
starting at 10 a.m. (ET) in the Eastern Michigan Classic at
Ypsilanti, Mich.
The 2010 GLIAC Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, in
Hillsdale, Mich., with the 2010 NCAA-II Midwest Regional set for
