Ferris State Volleyball Tabbed Among Region's Top Squads In D2 Midwest Listing
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women volleyball team, which currently leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings, has been featured among the Midwest Region's top squads in the initial NCAA Division II Regional Rankings unveiled by the national organization this week.
For the first time this year, the first regional rankings list schools under consideration in alphabetical order for the first ranking of the season rather than being listed in order. The top 10 schools were chosen for the Midwest Region.
Along with Ferris State, the initial NCAA-II Midwest Regional Rankings include two other GLIAC members in Davenport and Northern Michigan.
In addition to the GLIAC member schools, the Midwest listing also includes two Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) institutions in Ashland and Hillsdale along with five from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in Lewis (Ill.), Missouri S&T, Missouri-St. Louis, Quincy (Ill.) and Rockhurst.
The regional rankings will continue to be announced each of the next two weeks until the official NCAA Division II Tournament selections are announced following the conclusion of conference tournament play the week of Nov. 13.
The Bulldogs continue a five-match homestand this weekend as they host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Friday (Oct. 28) at 5 p.m. (ET) before entertaining Purdue Northwest on Saturday (Oct. 29) at 3 p.m. (ET).
