Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team will begin preparations for its upcoming 2011 season by holding its initial preseason training session this Monday (Aug. 15) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena inside FSU's Ewigleben Sports Complex.
The Bulldogs' squad officially reported to camp on Saturday (Aug. 13) and held several team meetings along with residence hall check-in and the program's annual Serve It Up picnic prior to departing for its annual team retreat. The team returns for testing on Monday morning prior to the first practice in the afternoon.
Regular weekday practices during the preseason will typically feature two per day until Friday, Aug. 26. The practice times are scheduled for 9-11 a.m. (EDT) and from 2-5 p.m. (EDT), but are subject to change.
Along with the normal preseason practices, the Bulldogs will also hold a combined practice and participate in a pair of scrimmages before camp comes to a close.
Ferris State officially opens its 2011 season on Friday, Sept. 2, with a pair of non-conference matches at the Ferris State Invitational in Big Rapids. The Bulldogs face Drury (Mo.) and Wisconsin-Parkside in their first two matches of the tournament. FSU then concludes tourney play on Saturday, Sept. 3, with contests against Southern Indiana and California (Pa.).
A season ago, Ferris State posted an 18-10 overall mark and the program's 13th consecutive winning season under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm.
