Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team put together a dominating performance as the Bulldogs topped Tiffin by a 3-0 score (25-16, 25-19, 27-25) on Sunday (Oct. 30) afternoon in Tiffin, Ohio.
The Bulldogs won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match to improve to 21-2 overall and 15-1 in league play. Meanwhile, Tiffin dropped to 5-20 on the year and 4-12 in conference action.
The nationally 11th-ranked Bulldogs had three players reach double-figures in kills with junior Anne Sutton (Grand Rapids/Northview) and junior Aly Brecht (Alma) pacing the squad with 12 each. Senior outside hitter Ashley Huntey (Stanwood/Morley-Stanwood) contributed 10 kills to go with eight digs.
The Bulldogs received 10 digs from senior libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) and 45 assists by junior setter Samantha Fordyce (DeWitt), who also had seven digs for Ferris State.
FSU hit .333 for the match and posted 47 kills to only 39 for the Dragons. The Bulldogs also tallied six blocks and had five service aces while TU had just four blocks and two aces. The Dragons netted 40 digs to 36 for the Bulldogs.
Tiffin was led by Danielle McQuade's match-high 13 kills. Lindsay Heller added 12 digs, McKenzie Wright totaled 11 digs and Tiffany Buchinger distributed 34 assists.
The Dragons were held to a .206 hitting figure and hit .125 or less in each of the first two sets of the match. Ferris State posted a .409 figure in the final set with 22 kills on 44 attempts in pulling out the win.
Sunday's win was the fifth in a row for the Bulldogs and the second of the weekend as FSU also beat Ohio Dominican by a 3-1 count on Saturday (Oct. 29) in Columbus, Ohio.
Ferris State wraps up league regular-season play with three matches on the road later this week. The Bulldogs first visit Saginaw Valley State on Wednesday (Nov. 2) for a 7 p.m. (ET) match in University Center, Mich.
