Vote Ferris State Volleyball For AVCA's Play Of The Week

The 2010 Ferris State University women's volleyball team has been nominated as one of three plays this week for the Volleyball Market/American Volleyball Coaches (AVCA) Play of the Week.

Ferris State is listed as play number one, which took place during the Bulldogs' Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match versus the Findlay Oilers last Sunday, Sept. 26, at UF's Croy Gymnasium in Findlay, Ohio.  FSU went on to defeat Findlay by a 3-1 score (18-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-17) in the conference contest.

The Volleyball Market/AVCA Play of the Week winners will be announced each Wednesday via press release.  The top five players each week will be posted to the AVCA web site at 8 a.m. (ET) on Thursdays to be voted on.  Voting will take place on the AVCA web site and will run through the following Tuesday until 11 a.m. (EDT).

Fans are encouraged to check back at the conclusion of the 2010 regular season as the top plays from each week will compete at the end of the year for the 2010 Volleyball Market/AVCA Play of the Year.

This Volleyball Market/AVCA Play of the Week in in its fourth week this season as previous winners this season are Mississippi State (Week One), Texas State (Week Two), and Texas Christian (Week Three).

Last season, Ferris State earned the distinction of being the first-ever recipient of the Volleyball Market/AVCA Play of the Week (Sept. 30) as the Bulldogs received a total of 8,000 votes.

The 2010 Bulldog squad is directed by head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm along with assistant coach Theresa Beeckman and student assistant coaches Sarah Lark and Kristy Gilchrist

Ferris State, which is presently 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the GLIAC North Division this season, will host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State this Friday (Oct. 1) evening in a 7 p.m. (EDT) conference contest at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.
