Ferris State's Arielle Goodson Named To Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team

Junior middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central) of the Ferris State University women's volleyball team was named to the 2009 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team this past Saturday (Nov. 21) following the regional tourney's championship match at Indianapolis, Ind.

Goodson was one of 12 student-athletes to receive all-tournament team recognition.  Host and regional tournament champion Indianapolis placed four individuals on the all-tourney squad while runner-up Lewis had three representatives on the team.

Goodson, a 2009 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First-Team selection, recorded a match-high 14 kills to with a team-best .448 attack percentage in Ferris State's 3-0 quarterfinal-round match loss to nationally-ranked Lewis last Thursday (Nov. 19).  The 6-2 middle hitter also registered a block solo and a block assist in the match, which was held at the University of Indianapolis' Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. 

This season, Goodson led Ferris State in kills (376), total blocks (120), block solos (44), and block assists (76) as a starter in 29 of 30 contests played in.  She also averaged 3.27 kills per set to go along with a .244 hitting percentage and 38 digs in 115 sets for the 2009 campaign. 

Ferris State, which made its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance in the program's history, concluded the 2009 season at 19-12 overall.  FSU's record represented the Bulldogs' 12th consecutive winning season.
