Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's outdoor track and field squad moved up three spots to 17th nationally this week in the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Rankings as announced by the national coaches organization.
The Bulldogs received 67.37 points in the poll and climbed up from 20th a week ago after a successful weekend competing at four different events last week.
FSU is among five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) programs featured in the nation's top 25 this week along with Grand Valley State (#2), Ashland (#15), Hillsdale (#16) and Findlay (#18).
Additionally, the Bulldogs are also listed among the top 10 teams in the region at ninth this week under head coach Steve Picucci.
Ferris State has been ranked among the nation's top 25 women's teams this campaign at various points in cross country, indoor track and field along with outdoor track and field. The Bulldogs were listed fifth in the Division II Women's Porgram of the Year Award standings administered by the USTFCCCA following the completion of the indoor track season.
FSU is slated to have competitors in action at both the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays and the Ashland Invitational this weekend (April 27-28). The Bulldogs will then take part in the 2012 GLIAC Outdoor Championships May 3-5 in Allendale, Mich.
Muir is also among the Bulldogs' qualifiers to date for the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championships, which will take place May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo.
