Big Rapids, Mich. - Five Ferris State University women's outdoor track and field student-athletes reached NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championship qualifying standards during the Bulldogs' appearance in the Raleigh Relays this past weekend (March 30-31) in Raleigh, N.C.
Bulldog senior Tina Muir registered a personal-best time of 16:10.55 to surpass the automatic qualifying time in the 5,000 meters. Additionally, junior Anna Rudd clocked 16:47.86, which topped the provisional qualifying standard.
Two Bulldogs also reached the provisional mark in the 1,500 meters as junior Shelby Janutol came in at 4:31.21 and sophomore Samantha Johnson posted a time of 4:35.42, both of which were qualifying times.
Finally, in the hammer throw, junior Jessica Pilling's toss of 176-5 was a national qualfying throw.
The 2012 NCAA-II National Outdoor Championships will take place May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo.
FSU's trip to the Raleigh Relays marked the Bulldogs' first outdoor meet of the 2012 campaign.
The Bulldogs return to Big Rapids to host their annual Bulldog Invitational on Saturday, April 7, at FSU's Top Taggart Field. Action gets underway at 11 a.m. (ET).
