Tina Muir Claims GLIAC Weekly Award
Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University junior runner Tina Muir (St. Albans, U.K.) has been honored as this week's (Jan. 26) recipient of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Award.
Muir paced the Bulldog women's indoor track and field team at
the Grand Valley State Bob Eubanks Open by winning two individual
events last Friday (Jan. 22) inside the Laker Turf Building at
Allendale, Mich.
The FSU standout took first place in the women's mile run while
surpassing the NCAA Division II National Provisional Qualification
standard with a time of 5:00.32 as the Bulldogs swept the top three
spots and placed four of the top five finishers overall in the
35-runner event.
Muir also claimed the 3,000 meters by clocking 9:58 in topping a
field of 52 participants. The meet represented her first action of
the indoor campaign this season.
The non-scoring indoor competition included a large number of
competitors from schools across the state and region such as FSU,
GVSU, Saginaw Valley State, Tiffin, Davenport, Aquinas, St. Francis
(Ind.), Bethel (Ind.), Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Calvin, Spring
Arbor, Windsor (Ontario), Indiana Tech, Alma and others.
Ferris State returns to action in the Saginaw Valley State
Collegiate Classic this Friday (Jan. 29) in University Center,
Mich. The event is slated for a 4 p.m. (EST) start time inside
SVSU's Ryder Center.
