Women's Golf Debuts Sixth In NCAA Women's Golf Regional Poll
The 2010-11 Ferris State University women's golf team is listed sixth in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region Rankings Poll, which was released this Thursday (March 31) afternoon by the NCAA-II Women's Golf Committee.
Ferris State is one of five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) members to comprise the 12-team East Region rankings as Ashland and Grand Valley State occupy the top two placings. The four regions for women's golf within NCAA Division II are East, Central, South, and West. The rankings, however, don't guarantee selection into the NCAA-II Women's Golf Championships.
The 2011 NCAA-II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 11-14 at Grand Valley State's The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.
The Bulldogs, under fourth-year head coach Mike Mignano, opened their spring season this past Saturday (March 26) with a seventh-place two-round 644 team score at the Northern Kentucky Invitational in Perry Park, Ky.
Ferris State, which is among other teams receiving votes in the latest (March 30) Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Coaches' Poll, returns to the links this weekend (April 2-3) to compete in the Ohio Dominican Invitational at Pataskala, Ohio.
