Ferris State Starts Women's Basketball Regular-Season Action This Week On The Road
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad will open the 2022-23 campaign on the road this weekend with a pair of regional contests.
FSU will play its regular-season opener on Friday (Nov. 11) as the Bulldogs visit Ohio Dominican for a 6 p.m. (ET) non-conference tip in Columbus before heading to Cedarville (Ohio) for another regional matchup on Saturday (Nov. 12) beginning at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
There will be no local FSU broadcast for either game due to other home and fall events, however both schools will provide both a live video webcast along with live internet statistics for both games. All applicable links can be found online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.
The Ferris State University women's basketball program begins the 2022-23 campaign with momentum after claiming the program's first GLIAC Tournament Championship a year ago and advancing to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
FSU boasts the return of eight members from a year ago as part of its opening roster.
Among the returnees for Ferris State are three players who claimed All-GLIAC accolades last season in senior forward Chloe Idoni (Fenton) along with junior guard Kadyn Blanchard (Freeland) and senior guard Mallory McCartney (Saginaw/Heritage). McCartney also received GLIAC All-Defensive Team laurels as well.
This year's newcomers include a NCAA Division I transfer in West Michigan native Kenzie Bowers from Illinois State along with four freshmen.
The Bulldogs captured both the GLIAC North Division Regular-Season Championship and also the GLIAC Tournament Championship last season. The postseason tournament title was the Bulldogs' first in school history. The Bulldogs' 22 wins fell one shy of matching the school single-season mark for victories in a campaign.
After this weekend, FSU's first home tilt of the regular-season is another regional contest against Northwood on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 5:30 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena.
