Big Rapids Mich. - For the second time this campaign, Ferris State University sophomore guard Sarah DeShone (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) has been recognized as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week.
DeShone averaged 18.5 points and shot 52% (13-25) from the floor as the Bulldogs won a pair of league home games this past week to head into the holiday break in first place in the GLIAC North Division standings.
DeShone tallied a game-high 24 points, including 15 in the second half, as FSU upset nationally seventh-ranked Michigan Tech on Sunday (Dec. 18) at Jim Wink Arena. She then added a team-high 13 points in Monday's (Dec. 19) 54-38 league home triumph over Northern Michigan. DeShone also contributed five assists, five rebounds and five steals in the two games combined while making three treys and all eight of her free throw attempts.
FSU is currently 6-2 overall and has won four-straight outings to date. The Bulldogs own a 4-1 mark in league play.
Ferris State returns to action after the Christmas holiday against Indianapolis on Dec. 30. Tipoff at Jim Wink Arena is set for 1 p.m. (EDT)
