Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University women's basketball sophomore guard Sarah DeShone (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown) has picked up this week's (Dec. 5) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week honor.
DeShone averaged a team-high 15.5 points per contest as the Bulldogs split a pair of league road contests in Ohio this past week. The 5-10 DeShone netted 31 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the two-game stretch while shooting 52.2% (12-23) from the floor and 75% (6-8) beyond the three-point arc.
She had 13 points and five assists in Thursday's (Dec. 1) league-opening loss at Tiffin before coming back to notch 18 points and seven rebounds as the Bulldogs topped Ohio Dominican by a 69-56 score on Saturday (Dec. 3) afternoon.
The Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak with Saturday's win in their first-ever trip to Ohio Dominican. DeShone is currently averaging a team-best 15.6 points per game this campaign.
Ferris State currently owns a 3-2 overall mark this campaign and will visit Northwood this Saturday (Dec. 10) for a 4 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Midland, Mich.
There will be no live radio braodcast due to FSU hockey coverage on Sunny 97.3 FM, but the game will be carried live online by the Bulldog Sports Network at www.FerrisStateBulldogs.com with Rob Bentley providing calling the play-by-play action. Pregame coverage starts approximately one-half hour prior to tipoff.
