FSU's Becci Houdek Attains GLIAC Award

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior guard Becci Houdek (Canton) reaped the benefits of the Bulldogs' impressive week by being tabbed today (Jan. 24) as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week.

Houdek fueled the Bulldogs' sweep of Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan this past week at Jim Wink Arena.

The 5-9 Houdek had an impressive all-around game with 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as FSU rallied for a 63-60 upset over nationally eighth-ranked Michigan Tech on Thursday (Jan. 20).  She then scored a game-high 17 points with four rebounds and four assists despite playing only 24 minutes in Ferris' decisive 74-44 victory versus Northern Michigan on Saturday (Jan. 22).

Houdek averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in the two-game stretch.  She also made 11-of-17 (.647) field goal tries, including a seven-of-nine (.778) showing versus NMU when she was three-of-four (.750) beyond the three-point arc.

Currently, Houdek ranks second among the GLIAC leaders in assists (5.1 apg.) and is also third in assist/turnover ratio (2.0) along with being listed 10th in steals (1.9 spg.).

Saturday's contest versus Northern Michigan represented Houdek's 100th game in a Bulldog uniform.  She's scored 667 points and dished out 320 assists to date in her career.  Additionally, she has 295 rebounds and 158 steals in her four seasons.

Houdek currently ranks eighth in career steals and is also ninth in career assists at FSU.

With the two wins this past week, the Bulldogs improved to 9-8 overall and 5-6 in league play.  They've also won three games in a row.
