Big Rapids, Mich. - Senior forward Tiara Adams (Lansing/Waverly) of the Ferris State University women's basketball team has been chosen as this week's recipient of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week Award.
Tiffin University senior guard Mandy Jaeb claimed the GLIAC South Division honor for her efforts as well in an announcement made today (Jan. 5) by the conference office.
Adams claimed all-classic team honors as the Bulldogs split a pair of games at the "Cluck U Chicken" Lady Bulldogs Holiday Classic hosted by Bowie State (Md.) last Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 29-30) in Bowie, Md.
The 5-9 Adams had 13 points and seven rebounds while playing only 23 minutes in FSU's 69-43 first day win over Virginia Union (Dec. 29). She then added 15 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double effort as the Bulldogs fell to host BSU narrowly by a 63-60 score to conclude the event (Dec. 30).
Adams totaled 28 points and 17 rebounds in the two-game stretch while adding six steals and four assists. She shot 58% or better from the floor in both contests.
Presently, Adams ranks as FSU's second-leading scorer (13.0 ppg.) and is the team's leading rebounder (8.3 rpg.) to date this year. She's totaled 11 double-figure scoring performances in 12 outings to date and has five double-double efforts to date this seson.
The Bulldog women's basketball team currently holds a 6-6 overall mark this year and will resume GLIAC play at home on Thursday (Jan. 6) night versus Lake Superior State. The women's game will tipoff following the men's contest at approximately 8 p.m. (ET) inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
