A Home Run Derby and a Kickball Tournament are some of the promotional highlights for this upcoming weekend's (April 15-17) Ferris State University softball homestand at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
Free pop and peanuts will be distributed to the first 25 Ferris State students who attend each day of this weekend's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contests.
On Saturday (April 16), a home run derby featuring current Big Rapids (Mich.) High School baseball and softball team members will be conducted in between the first and second game of a doubleheader.
A FSU Student-Athlete Kickball Tournament and a BBQ, which is sponsored by Snyder's Market, will take place Sunday (April 17) in conjunction with the Bulldog softball team's twinbill.
Ferris State will open the weekend's action on the diamond this Friday (April 15) against the Findlay Oilers with game one set for 3:30 p.m. (EDT) to be followed by the nightcap at 5:30 p.m. (EDT). The Bulldogs then entertain the Tiffin Dragons on Saturday (April 16) at 1 and 3 p.m. (EDT), respectively. Wayne State will provide the opposition for Sunday's (April 17) doubleheader with the first pitch of the opener scheduled for noon (EDT). The second game will commence around 2 p.m. (EDT). All three of this weekend's doubleheaders are against GLIAC South Division opponents.
The Bulldogs, who have won seven of their last 10 outings, presently sport a 13-15 overall record and are 10-6 in the GLIAC's North Division this season.
