The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the annual Northwood Invitational on Saturday (April 17) in Midland, Mich.
The non-scoring event included schools such as FSU, Northwood, Saginaw Valley State, Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan, Aquinas and Davenport.
Freshman Zoey Holmann won the 400 meters (1:00.12) for the Bulldog women.
Freshman Alyssa Osika was second in the 800 meters (2:16.89), junior Jade Kaufman took third place in the 400 meters (1:01.91), senior Emily Cross captured third place in the 100-meter hurdles (15.47) and freshman Shelby Janutol placed fourth in the 1,500 meters (4:57.06).
The Bulldogs also placed three of the top five finishers in the 3,000 meters as freshman Anna Rudd came in first (10:33.59), freshman Felicia Peacock was second (11:00.61) and freshman Jordan McGuire took fifth place (11:19.14).
In the field events, freshman Christa Cwiek came in second in the javelin (106-6), Cross also tied for secodn place overall in the high jump (5-7) and sophomore Andrea Fogle was third in the discus (126-10).
The FSU quartet of Kaufman, Janutol, Osika and Holmann also won the 4x400-meter relay (4:04.04).
Ferris senior Greg Burns won the pole vault (16-4.75) with a school outdoor-record effort while Ryan Hecksel came in third overall (13-1.50) in the same event.
FSU junior Justin Price won the 400 meters (49.34) and earned runner-up laurels in the 200 meters (22.51).
Freshman Ryan Chute placed third in the 1,500 meters (4:06.84), sophomore Steven Neshkoff finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:12.48) and sophomore J.J. Vandenburg came in fifth in the hammer throw (155-4).
The Bulldogs also netted three of the top six finishers in the 5,000 meters as junior Alex Best took second (15:31.20), freshman David Silversmith was third (15:31.73) and junior Derek Childs wound up sixth (15:37.15).
FSU is next slated to take part in the annual Hillsdale "Gina" Relays on Friday (April 23) in Hillsdale, Mich.
