Men's Tennis Opens Road Stretch By Handling Storm In Ohio

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team opened a three-match weekend road trip with a dominating 9-0 win over the Lake Erie Storm on Thursday (March 28) at the Mentor Heisley Racquet and Fitness Club in Mentor, Ohio.

The Bulldogs remained unbeaten in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as they improved to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in league play under first-year head coach Chad Berryhill.

The Bulldogs opened up a 3-0 edge following doubles play by winning all three flights.  The three doubles tilts were decided by scores of 8-3, 8-1 and 8-4 at the number one, two and three positions, respectively.

FSU then swept the six singles spots in decisive fashion, which included wins of 6-0, 6-0 by senior Tyler Marengo at three singles and Will Huntington at the sixth flight.  Aaron Dial was a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the fourth spot and Sergiu Laza recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at two singles.

The other two singles contests were also won handily by the Bulldogs with reigning GLIAC Player of the Week Laurent Galarneau posting a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the top flight and Brandon Arradaza taking a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at the fifth position.

Lake Erie dropped to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play with the loss to the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked 34th nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Rankings along with second in the Midwest Regional listing.

Ferris State is back in action on Friday (March 29) as the Bulldogs face league newcomer Walsh University in Canton, Ohio, at 10 a.m. (ET).  FSU then wraps up the trip by visiting Malone on Saturday (March 30) for a league contest also in Canton.
