Ferris Men's Tennis Wins GLIAC Opener
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis
team opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC)
action with a convincing 6-3 league home win over Lake Superior
State on Saturday (March 20) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness
Center.
The Bulldogs snapped a five-match losing streak by beating the
Lakers in their first official conference match of the 2009-10
campaign.
FSU improved to 4-5 overall with the triumph while taking two of
the three doubles flights along with four of the six singles
matches.
Ferris grabbed wins at both the second and third doubles positions
as the tandems of Jack Swan and Justin
Hermes (#2) along with Ahmet Demir and
Arin Enge (#3) were both victorious by idential
8-4 scores.
In singles play, three of FSU's four wins came in straight
sets. Kyle Revall was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at
the top spot with Swan capturing the third flight by the same
scores. Tyler Marengo picked up a 6-4, 6-0
victory at the sixth spot in the lineup with Steven
Roberts winning in three sets at the fifth position.
LSSU picked up its lone wins at the top doubles flight along with
both number two and four singles.
Ferris State wraps up its weekend homestand by hosting
Michigan Tech on Sunday (March 21) in a 10 a.m. (EDT) league
tilt at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
