Senior Captain Kyle Bonis Claims CCHA Offensive Player Of Week Honor

Ferris State University senior left wing Kyle Bonis (Lindsay, Ontario) has picked up this week's Postgame® Offensive Player of the Week honor from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).

Bonis tallied two goals and two assists for four points in the nationally-ranked Bulldogs' league road sweep at Bowling Green State this past weekend (Nov. 16-17) in Ohio.

Both of Bonis' weekend goals came on the power play and he had the game-winner in FSU's 3-1 victory to complete the sweep on Saturday night.  Bonis finished +1 for the weekend on the ice.  He also tallied the first assist on the Bulldogs' final goal both nights, including one on Friday night as FSU scored 14 seconds into overtime to take a 4-3 win.

His efforts helped the Bulldogs move into a tie for second place in the CCHA standings and only one point out of first place.  In addition, the Bulldogs and Notre Dame are the only teams in the conference to record five wins in league action to date.

Bonis, who was named to the 2012 Frozen Four All-Tournament Team as the Bulldogs reached the national championship game, placed third among FSU's scoring leaders a season ago with 30 points.  He had a squad second-best 19 goals and added 11 assists in playing all 43 contests.  Bonis' totals included three game-winning goals and four power-play markers last campaign.

The Bulldogs, who vaulted to 16th in the National Rankings announced today (Nov. 19), will be idle over the Thanksgiving break with a week off before returning to action at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids against the University of Michigan Wolverines on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.  The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. (ET) both nights.

In addition, Saturday (Dec. 1) night's game will be the annual teddy bear toss with fans encouraged to bring a stuffed bear to toss on the ice to give to children in need.
