Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team continues to reap the rewards of one of its most successful starts in school history as the Bulldogs have earned the national "Team of the Week" honor from College Hockey News following an impressive sweep over Miami (Ohio).
The Bulldogs and 20th-year head coach Bob Daniels are featured in CHN's "Team of the Week" article, which debuted online Wednesday (Oct. 26).
Additionally, the Bulldogs can also be found on the front of the ESPN College Sports website today in an article on college hockey.
Ferris State cracked the national top 10 in all three primary collegiate hockey polls this week after an impressive weekend sweep over nationally-ranked Miami (Ohio) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. The Bulldogs beat the RedHawks 4-2 on Friday (Oct. 21) and 2-0 on Saturday (Oct. 22) to improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in league action.
FSU is currently listed sixth nationally this week in the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) NCAA Division I poll along with seventh in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and ninth in the Inside College Hockey.com (INCH) poll.
FSU is off to its best start since winning eight consecutive contests in its second season of Division I collegiate hockey in 1979-80, which was the team's inaugural year in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).
Ferris State will put its unbeaten mark on the line this week (Oct. 27-28) as the Bulldogs travel to Ann Arbor to square off against the fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines in a battle of top 10 teams at Yost Ice Arena. Opening faceoff on both Thursday and Friday nights is slated for 7:35 p.m. (ET). Thursday's showdown will be televised live on Comcast.
