Big Rapids, Mich. - After an impressive sweep over the weekend, the 2011-12 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has vaulted into the national rankings in two of this week's primary collegiate hockey polls.
The Bulldogs are ranked 14th in the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) NCAA Division I poll and listed 20th in the Inside College Hockey.com (INCH) poll. The Bulldogs, under 20th-year head coach Bob Daniels, attained 282 points in the USCHO.com poll. FSU also received votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this week (Oct. 16).
The Bulldogs are presently 4-0-0 overall and will begin Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play at home this weekend against the nationally-ranked Miami (Ohio) RedHawks on both Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22, at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. Opening faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. (ET) for both contests against the RedHawks, who are ranked 10th in the USCHO poll along with ninth by INCH and seventh in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.
This past weekend, the Bulldogs posted two shutouts against RPI, which was ranked 20th in the nation a week ago. Ferris State won 4-0 in Friday's (Oct. 14) contest and 2-0 in Saturday's (Oct. 15) encounter at home.
The U.S. College Hockey Online Poll consists of 50 voters encompassing 28 coaches from the NCAA Division I conferences along with 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll is published weekly by the Associated Press.

The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll is conducted on a weekly basis in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
