Senior defenseman Zach Redmond (Traverse City) of the Ferris State University men's ice hockey team was recently named to Inside College Hockey.com's (INCH) 2010-11 Preseason All-America Third Team as announced by the online collegiate hockey publication.

Redmond was one of six individuals to achieve third-team preseason recognition by INCH, which also released first and second All-America teams.  The selections were made by the Inside College Hockey editors and staff with input from media and coaches from around the nation.

This season, the 2010-11 Bulldog team captain has compiled a team-best tying three points on two goals with an assist in four contests.  The 6-2, 205-pound blueliner has produced a plus four efficiency rating and a squad-most six blocked shots while tallying one game-winning goal.

Prior to this campaign, Redmond received first-team Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Preseason All-Conference accolades.

In 119 career contests, Redmond has presently recorded 73 points on 17 goals with 56 assists. He also has nettted eight power-play lamplighters, one short-handed goal, five game-winning tallies, 182 blocked shots, and 14 multi-point games to go with a plus 23 efficiency rating.  The 2009-10 All-CCHA Second-Team honoree has etched his name among Ferris State's all-time top defensemen by currently ranking 12th in career assists, tied for 11th in points, and 12th in goals scored.

The Ferris State skater was drafted in the 2008 National Hockey League's (NHL) Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers with the 184th overall pick in the seventh round.

Redmond and Ferris State begin CCHA play this weekend (Oct. 22-23) with a two-game home series against the Ohio State Buckeyes in Big Rapids, Mich.  A 7:05 p.m. (EDT) start is slated for both contests at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena.  The Bulldogs have started out this 2010-11 campaign by posting a 3-1-0 overall ledger to date.
