Coming off an impressive showing against nationally top-ranked Miami (Ohio), the 2010-11 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team is presently ranked this week (Nov. 8) among the nation's best in two collegiate hockey polls.
Ferris State is listed 20th both in the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) NCAA Division I and Inside College Hockey.com polls. The Bulldogs, under 19th-year head coach Bob Daniels, attained 132 points in the USCHO.com poll. FSU was among other teams receiving votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this week (Nov. 8).
The Bulldogs are presently 5-3-2 overall and 2-2-2-2 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) and cracked the top 20 nationally for the first time this season following a 3-2 victory and a 3-2 shootout win (1-1 overtime tie) versus the nationally number-one ranked Miami (Ohio) RedHawks this last weekend (Nov. 5-6) in a two-game league series at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. Ferris State currently sports a 1-1-2-2 mark against nationally-ranked opponents this campaign.
The U.S. College Hockey Online/CBS College Sports Poll consists of 50 voters encompassing 28 coaches from the NCAA Division I conferences along with 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. The poll is published weekly by the Associated Press.

The USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll is conducted on a weekly basis in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
The Bulldogs concluded the 2009-10 season ranked 13th in the nation by U.S. College Hockey Online, 14th by USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine, and 15th in Inside College Hockey.com's poll.
Ferris State is back on the ice this weekend (Nov. 12-13) as the Bulldogs take on the Lake Superior State Lakers in a two-game CCHA set at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
