Bulldogs Faceoff Against Number-One Ranked Miami At Home This Weekend

The Ferris State University men's hockey team will have its opportunity to knock off the nation's number-one ranked team this weekend (Nov. 5-6) as the Bulldogs host the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks in a two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

Ferris State, under the direction of 19th-year head coach Bob Daniels, is presently 4-3-1 overall and 1-2-1-1 in the CCHA this season.  The Bulldogs have compiled a 3-1-1 home ledger this campaign, which includes a 2-0 home shootout win over nationally fourth-ranked Michigan last Friday (Oct. 29) following a 2-2 overtime tie in a home league encounter at Big Rapids.  Senior defensman Zach Redmond (Traverse City), a 2010-11 preseason All-CCHA selection, leads Ferris State in scoring with eight points (4-4=8).  The Bulldog team captain earned special mention recognition for the October RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month Award.  Junior defenseman Chad Billins (2-4=6) and senior center Nate Hennig (4-1=5) are also among the team's top points leaders.  In goal, senior Pat Nagle has been the Bulldogs' primary netminder and sports a 4-2-1 mark with a 1.84 goals-against average and a .925 saves percentage as a seven-game starter.   

FSU's opponent this weekend, Miami enters the series with a 5-1-2 overall record and a 3-0-1-1 mark in CCHA play for the 2010-11 season.  The RedHawks are coached by 12th-year head coach Enrico Blasi, who was named the 2009-10 recipient of the CCHA Coach of the Year Award.  A pair of senior forwards, Carter Camper (9-13=22) and Andy Miele (4-13=17) will be two Miami skaters to watch.  Camper was recently selected as the Hockey Commissioner's Association National Division I Player of the Month for October after attaining RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month laurels for October.  Cody Reichard, a 2009-10 Second-Team All-American and All-CCHA First-Team honoree, is 4-0-0 between the posts this season with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .906 saves percentage.  He was tabbed as the CCHA's Player of the Year for 2009-10 and also earned the league's Best Goaltender Award.
