Ferris' Pat Nagle Selected CCHA Goaltender Of The Week

With his outstanding performance in the Ferris State University men's ice hockey team's series sweep of nationally number-one ranked Miami (Ohio), senior Pat Nagle (Bloomfield) has been selected as this week's (Nov. 8) Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) Goaltender of the Week.  The announcement was made this Monday (Nov. 8) by the CCHA.

Nagle, a 2010-11 CCHA Preseason Second-Team honoree, totaled a combined 52 saves on 55 shots faced in the two-game league set in helping Ferris State claim five of a possible six points on the weekend.  The 6-3, 185-pound netminder turned aside 16 shots in Friday's (Nov. 5) 3-2 triumph and then made 36 stops, including a spectacular one in overtime, en route to being tabbed as the first star of the game.  He concluded the series with a .945 saves percentage and a 1.44 goals-against average in 125 minutes played.

This season, Nagle has compiled a 5-2-2 record in net with a 1.75 goals-against average (16 goals allowed) and a .930 saves percentage (212 saves) in nine starting appearances.  He has compiled 20 or more saves in a contest seven times this season, which includes a season-high 36 stops in last Saturday's (Nov. 6) 3-2 shootout win over number-one Miami following a 1-1 overtime tie.  Nationally, Nagle presently is listed seventh in goals-against average, 13th in save percentage, and tied for 16th in winning percentage (.667).

As a starter in 71 of 73 career contests, Nagle sports a 32-30-8 record between the posts with a 2.40 goals-against average (166 goals allowed) and a .915 saves percentage (1,778 saves).  He has also registered three shutouts and garnered seven assists in 4,156 career minutes of action.  Among the program's all-time leaders, Nagle currently ranks second in both goals-against average and saves percentage, tied for fourth in victories, seventh in minutes played, and ninth in total saves.

The weekly CCHA recognition represents the second one for Nagle, who was tabbed the CCHA Reebok Goaltender of the Week a season ago (Dec. 14).

Ferris State, which improved to 5-3-2 overall and 2-2-2-2 (10 league points) in the CCHA with its noteworthy performance against top-ranked Miami this last weekend, visits the Lake Superior State Lakers this weekend (Nov. 12-13) in a two-game league series at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.  Both contests get underway at 7:05 p.m. (EST) inside LSSU's Taffy Abel Arena.  The nationally-ranked Bulldogs then return home the following weekend, Nov. 19-20, to host the nationally-ranked Western Michigan Broncos in a two-game CCHA set at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.  Opening faceoff for both contests is at 7:05 p.m. (EST) and for tickets, please call the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888 or go online at www.startickets.com.
