The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will begin the final month of the 2010-11 regular-season campaign this weekend (Feb. 5-6) as the Bulldogs skate against the Alaska Nanooks in a two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) matchup at UA's Carlson Center in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Ferris State sports a 12-12-4 overall record, which includes a 9-10-3-2 mark (6th place--32 pts.) in the CCHA to date this season. The Bulldogs, under the direction of 19th-year head coach Bob Daniels, feature a pair of Hobey Baker Award candidates in senior goaltender Pat Nagle and senior defenseman Zach Redmond. Pat Nagle (12-10-4, 1.96 GAA, .922sv%) has staked claim to being among the nation's top netminders by presently ranking fifth nationally in goals-against average, 19th in saves percentage, and tied for 33rd in winning percentage (.538). Nagle is tops on the CCHA goaltenders chart for overall games with a 1.96 goals-against average and is third in save percentage. The Bulldogs' team captain, Zach Redmond has recorded a squad-best 17 points (7-10=17) in 22 outings, highlighted by a national 17th-place tying three game-winning lamplighters. Senior center Nate Hennig (6-6=12) and junior defenseman Chad Billins (5-7=12) are tied for second place in team scoring for Ferris State, which ranks sixth nationally in scoring defense (2.14 gpg.) and 54th in scoring offense (2.21 gpg.).
Alaska is 12-10-4 overall and 9-9-4-2 (5th place--33 pts.) in CCHA action this campaign as the Nanooks are coming off a home league series sweep of Ohio State last weekend (Jan. 28-29). Alaska, which is 7-3-2 at home this season, is listed among teams receiving votes in this week's (Jan. 31) U.S. College Hockey Online.com (USCHO) poll. The Nanooks, who are coached by Dallas Ferguson, rank fourth nationally in scoring defense (2.12 gpg.) and are tied for 46th in scoring offense (2.35 gpg.). Freshman forward Cody Kunyk (9-11=20) leads Alaska in scoring while junior goaltender Scott Greenham (12-10-4, 1.98 GAA, .927sv%) has been the Nanooks' sole netminder this season. Greenham is listed seventh among the national leaders in goals-against average and 10th in save percentage.
