Solid Ice Presentation To Be Held At Nov. 7 Bulldog Hockey Game

A special presentation involving Solid Ice, a community organization in Big Rapids (Mich.), will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, during the Ferris State University men's ice hockey game against Bowling Green State at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

The presentation will take place between periods of the 5:05 p.m. (EST) starting contest with FSU President Dr. David L. Eisler and Bulldog hockey head coach Bob Daniels to accept a check from Solid Ice.

Solid Ice recently made the final payment of its $200,000 pledge made to Ferris State University in 1998.  The funds are being used to help offset the cost of a 4,560 square-foot locker room for the Bulldog men's ice hockey team, which was constructed as part of the Ewigleben Ice Arena Remodeling Project.  The locker room was the first major renovation for the Ewigleben Ice Arena, which was built in 1975.

Solid Ice has approved continued support of the Bulldog men's ice hockey program through donations to the program's scholarship fund.

The Solid Ice organization played a vital role in helping Ferris State University maintain its NCAA Division I men's ice hockey program status.  Solid Ice also has made significant donations to other area organizations such as the Big Rapids High School hockey team, Ferris Club hockey team, the Big Rapids Area Junior Hockey Association (BRAJHA), and the Big Rapids Figure Skating Club.  Solid Ice was also instrumental in purchasing a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck which was converted into an Olympia Ice resurfacing machine.  The organization assisted with the donation and delivery through University Chevrolet and Ferris State University.

Solid Ice was formed to assist in supporting the University's only NCAA Division I sport.  Solid Ice is affiliated with the Mecosta County Community Foundation, a charitable organization.  Donations made to Solid Ice are eligible for a Federal income tax deduction.  Donors may also claim a 50% credit on their Michigan tax return.  Please see a tax advisor for details.
