The Ferris State University Athletics Department will hold its annual Toys For Tots' Teddy Bear Toss this Saturday (Dec. 12) during the Bulldog men's ice hockey contest against the Western Michigan Broncos at Big Rapids, Mich.
The FSU hockey game is slated to drop the puck at 5:05 p.m. (EST) inside FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena.
Those fans attending are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal, preferably new but used in good condition will also be accepted and appreciated. Between the first and second periods of this Saturday's Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) contest between the two West Michigan schools, fans will have an opportunity to throw their teddy bear and/or stuffed animal(s) onto the ice. Those collected will go directly to benefit needy children in the Big Rapids local areas for the Christmas Holiday.
The U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots Foundation was formed to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and then distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in their local communities. The program is aimed at helping needy children throughout the United States of America experience the joy of Christmas along with the message of hope to these underpriviledged children to motivate them into being responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
