Blair Riley Named Inside College Hockey's Player Of The Week
Senior left wing Blair Riley (Kamloops, British Columbia) of the 2009-10 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has been selected as Inside College Hockey.com's National Player of the Week as announced late Monday (Nov. 23) evening.
Riley, who earned Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) Offensive Player of the Week accolades as well, turned in a six-point series performance against Ohio State this last weekend (Nov. 20-21) with a combined four goals and two assists in the league home series sweep of the Buckeyes at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.
In the series opener last Friday (Nov. 20), Riley registered his second career hat trick (three goals) in the Bulldogs' 8-1 triumph and finished the contest with four points. He went on to tally a third-period goal in Saturday's (Nov. 21) 6-5 overtime victory before assisting on Ferris State's game-tying lamplighter with less than a minute left in regulation as the Bulldogs overcame an early third-period three-goal deficit (5-2).
Riley has compiled a team-leading 16 points on a squad-best 12 goals and four assists to go with a plus six efficiency rating in 14 contests. The 6-0, 220-pound forward has also totaled three power-play lamplighters, two short-handed markers, and five blocked shots this campaign. Riley has generated six multiple-point game efforts this season to date. Among the national leaders, Riley is presently listed fourth in goals per game (0.86 gpg.) and is tied for 39th place in points per game (1.14 ppg.).
For his career, Riley has currently racked up 65 points on 36 goals and 29 assists in 121 career outings. He has generated 14 power-play goals, two short-handed markers, two game-winning tallies, and 29 blocked shots to date in his collegiate career.
Ferris State, which has tallied a 9-3-2 overall record while sporting a third-place 4-2-2-2 CCHA mark to date, is idle until Dec. 4-5 when the Bulldogs host the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks in a two-game league series at Big Rapids. FSU has posted a current six-game (4-0-2) unbeaten streak while notching an 8-0-0 home record this season.
