Senior Blair Riley (Kamloops, British Columbia), a member of the nationally-ranked 2009-10 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team, was recently featured by College Hockey News.
The feature story, written by College Hockey News' reporter Nick Lowman, is titled "Life of Riley, Bulldogs, Looking Up."
Riley, who recently was selected as a 2009-10 season candidate for the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award as college hockey's top player, presently leads Ferris State in scoring with a career single-season best tying 24 points on a career season-high 15 goals and nine assists in 20 contests. He has generated eight multiple-point game performances this campaign to date, which includes a four-point outing
The FSU left winger was recognized earlier this season as the RBC Financial Group Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Player of the Month for November after receiving both CCHA Offensive Player of the Week and Inside College Hockey.com Player of the Week accolades (Nov. 23). Riley was recently selected to the 2009 Badger Hockey Showdown's All-Tournament Team (Jan. 3).
Ferris State has presently posted a 14-4-2 overall record and an 8-2-2-2 mark (28 league points) in the CCHA. The Bulldogs' performance this season represents one of the top three starts in the program's history. Nationally, FSU is currently ranked 11th by U.S. College Hockey Online while being listed 12th in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, and 13th in Inside College Hockey.com's poll.
Riley and the Bulldogs resume CCHA action this weekend (Jan. 9-10) with a two-game road series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at UND's Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind. The series opener this Saturday (Jan. 9) will commence with a 7:05 p.m. (EST) opening faceoff while this Sunday's (Jan. 10) encounter is slated to start at 4:05 p.m. (EST).
