Senior right wing Aaron Lewicki (Livonia), a member of the nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's ice hockey team, has been designated as the Bulldogs' 2009-10 representative for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Lewicki, who was chosen as Ferris State's CCHA Scholar-Athlete the previous two seasons (2007-08 and 2008-09), is one of 12 outstanding student-athletes to be selected as their team's 2009-10 CCHA Scholar-Athlete.

This season's CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year from this group of nominees will be announced at the 2010 CCHA RBC Financial Group Awards Banquet next Thursday, March 18, at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Mich.

The faculty athletic representative at each CCHA-member school, in consultation with the head coach, selected the institution's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  Each school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year subsequently serves as the school's nominee for the CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 through the fall term of the selection year to receive their school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. The CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year is selected by the 12 faculty representatives at each CCHA-member school. Voting is based on a system awarding five points for a first-place vote, three points for a second-place vote and one point for a third-place vote.

This season, Lewicki has presently recorded a career single-season best tying and team fifth-most 20 points with 10 goals and assists apiece in 36 contests.  Both of his goals and assists totals this campaign also tie for career season highs, matching his 2008-09 season numbers in 37 appearances.  Lewicki's 10 lamplighters this season ties for the second most among FSU's goal-scoring leaders.  A finance major, Lewicki has generated at least a point in 15 outings this season, which includes four multiple-point game performances.

For his career, Lewicki has accumulated 68 points with 33 goals and 35 assists in 144 games.  He has scored seven power-play markers, one short-handed goal, and five game-winning lamplighters to date during his Bulldog career.

Lewicki, who was tabbed as the 2008-09 winner of the FSU Athletics Department's Jimmy Swears Courage Award, has been chosen as the Bulldog hockey program's Scholar-Athlete Award honoree the last two seasons (2007-08 and 2008-09).  He also holds the distinction of being the team's FSU President's Award recipient the past two seasons for having the highest cumulative grade point average.

Ferris State, which will host a CCHA Playoff Second-Round series this weekend (March 12-14), presently has a 19-11-6 overall record and concluded the regular season with a third-place 13-9-6-4 mark (49 points) in the CCHA.
