Blair Riley Named To Badger Showdown All-Tournament Team

Senior left wing Blair Riley (Kamloops, British Columbia) of the nationally-ranked 2009-10 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has been selected to the 2009 Badger Hockey Showdown's All-Tournament Team which was announced this Sunday (Jan. 3) evening following the conclusion of the championship game.

Riley totaled a combined three points on a goal and two assists in the two games of the 21st annual Badger Hockey Showdown which was held this past weekend (Jan. 2-3) at the University of Wisconsin's Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.  The Bulldog forward recorded an assist on FSU's lone goal in Saturday's (Jan. 2) 6-1 semifinal-game setback to nationally-ranked Yale and then tallied a goal with a helper in a 5-1 victory over Merrimack on Sunday (Jan. 3) in the tourney's third-place game.  He accounted for the game-winner with a late opening-period lamplighter in the tourney triumph.

Joining Riley on the all-tournament team were forward Michael Davies, defenseman Justin Schultz, and goaltender Scott Gudmandson of tourney champion Wisconsin along with forward Sean Backman and defenseman Thomas Dignard, both of Yale.  Wisconsin's Michael Davies was chosen as the tourney's Most Valuable Player.

This season, Riley leads Ferris State in scoring with 24 points on 15 goals and nine assists in 20 contests.  Both of his points and goals totals this campaign match personal career single-season highs.  The 6-0, 220-pound forward has also registered eight multiple-point game performances this campaign to date.

Riley along with junior defenseman Zach Redmond (Traverse City) were also recently named to Inside College's (INCH) First-Half All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Team.  Riley was recognized as the league's Surprise Individual by the online college hockey service while Ferris State was tabbed as the CCHA's Surprise Team at the midway point of the 2009-10 campaign.

Ferris State, which is presently 14-4-2 overall this season was able to maintain its 11th-place national ranking for the second straight time in this week's (Jan. 4) U.S. College Hockey Online Poll.  The Bulldogs resume CCHA action this weekend (Jan. 9-10) with a two-game road set versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at UND's Joyce Center in South Bend, Ind.  This Saturday's (Jan. 9) series opener will start at 7:05 p.m. (EST) while Sunday's (Jan. 10) matchup is scheduled for a 4:05 p.m. (EST) opening faceoff.
