Big Rapids, Mich. - Three Ferris State University men's golfers have been tabbed among the best in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the 2012-13 season as the league recently announced its all-conference teams.
Bulldog junior standout Trent Davison (Rockford) was one of six players named to the All-GLIAC First Team while both freshman Ben Cook (Caledonia/Grand Rapids South Christian) along with sophomore Luke Trocchio (St. Clair Shores) were all-conference second team picks.
A total of six players were named to the first, second and third teams in the all-conference process.
Ferris State and Grand valley State were the only league member schools to have three selections among the top two all-conference teams.
All-GLIAC Men's Golf selections were based upon a player's stroke average in his 10 best rounds in league play, including the three rounds of the GLIAC Tournament. All ties were also broken by total strokes in the conference tournament.
Davison posted a 73.80 average in the scoring process, which ranked tied for fifth in the league this season. Meanwhile, Cook was tied for seventh with a 74.10 average and Trocchio ranked tied for 11th at 74.20 for the year.
This year marked the second consecutive year in which Davison has attained All-GLIAC First Team recognition.
The Bulldogs, under sixth-year head coach Mike Mignano, made their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in men's golf this season. FSU wrapped up action last week in the 2013 NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional Championships by coming away with a 10th-place team finish in Kenosha, Wis.
FSU also earned runner-up honors in the GLIAC Championships last fall, which were held in Elyria, ohio.
