Big Rapids, Mich. - Sophomore golfer Trent Davison (Rockford) of the Ferris State University men's golf team has been honored as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week.

The award was announced by the league office and is sponsored by Hit Trophy.

He carded back-to-back rounds of 72 to finish at 144 overall and was only three strokes behind medalist Shawn Vanderwal of Drury (Mo.).

His play helped the Bulldogs move up from 11th place after the first round on Sunday (Sept. 25) to finish second with a 593 team score in the event held at Hawkshead Golf Course in South Haven, Mich.  The event wrapped up on Monday (Sept. 26).

The Bulldogs will next take part in and play host to the 2011 GLIAC Championships on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 2-3, at Eagle Eye Golf Course in Bath, Mich.
