Eric Lilleboe Earns His Fourth Consecutive Conference Weekly Award
For the fourth consecutive week, Ferris State University senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) has been tabbed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week (Oct. 7) in an announcement released by the GLIAC office.
Lilleboe garnered the conference award as a result of achieving medalist honors at the 2009 GLIAC Men's Golf Championships (Oct. 3-5) in Marquette, Mich. The FSU senior netted a four-under par 209-stroke total (70-70-69=204, -4) to place a top the individual leaderboard and finish seven strokes in front of his nearest challengers. The Bulldogs concluded the three-round league tourney with a fourth-place tying 908 team score.
Lilleboe also received conference weekly recognition the previous three weeks to date -Sept. 15, 22, and 29. He garnered tourney medalist accolades at the Saginaw Valley State Al Watrous Memorial Intercollegiate Invitational (Sept. 12-13) and at the Ferris State Matt Pinter Invitational (Sept. 26-27).
The two-time (2007-08 and 2008-09) All-GLIAC First-Team selection presently leads the 2009-10 team with a 69.00 stroke average (759 total storkes) in 11 rounds of action this fall. All four of his tournament performances this season to date have occurred among the top five individuals.
Lilleboe, the 2007-08 GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year, has compiled a current 73.31 strokes per round average (5,948 total strokes) in 81 career rounds. He also has attained top individual medalist status in six collegiate tournaments to date - 2007 Northwood Invitational (Sept. 10), 2008 The GEICO Intercollegiate (March 14-15), 2008 Findlay Outback Steakhouse Invitational (April 11-12), 2009 Saginaw Valley State Al Watrous Memorial Intercollegiate Invitational (Sept. 12-13), 2009 Ferris State Matt Pinter Invitational (Sept. 26-27), and the 2009 GLIAC Championships (Oct. 3-5).
Lilleboe will make his final 2009 fall season appearance this weekend (Oct. 10-11) as Ferris State plays in the Wayne State Motor City Invitational at the Grosse Ile (Mich.) Golf Club course.
