The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has named senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) of the nationally-ranked 2009-10 Ferris State University men's golf team as this week's (Sept. 15) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for his performance in last weekend's season-opening tournament.

Lilleboe, a two-time (2007-08 and 2008-09) All-GLIAC First-Team selection, earned medalist honors at the 2009-10 season-opening Saginaw Valley State Al Watrous Memorial Intercollegiate Invitational last weekend (Sept. 12-13) at the Bay City (Mich.) Country Club.  Lilleboe carded a school-record 14-under par 202 score (76-65-70=202) to help Ferris State claim the team tournament championship title.  The school mark Lilleboe broke was previously held by Jeff Carlson, who registered a 206-stroke total (68-69-69=206) at the 2007 NCAA Division II Central/Great Lakes Super Regional Tournament (May 7-9) in Joplin, Mo.

Lilleboe is presently averaging a team-best 67.33 strokes per round (202 total strokes) in three rounds this season for the Bulldogs, who are listed tied for 17th place in the 2009-10 Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll (Sept. 3).

For his career, Lilleboe has compiled a 73.71 stroke average (5,381 total strokes) in 73 rounds.  The 2008-09 FSU Most Valuable Player Award co-recipient has accumulated 20 top-10 place performances with 12 of those efforts being among the top five individuals in tournament competition.

A 2007-08 team Most Valuable Player Award honoree, Lilleboe was a co-winner of the GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week honor last season (Sept. 24).  The 2007-08 GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year had attained weekly conference accolades earlier (April 16) in his 2007-08 sophomore season.

Lilleboe and Bulldogs will compete in the NCAA-II Midwest Region Tournament I this weekend (Sept. 20-21) at the HawksHead Country Club in South Haven, Mich.
