Ferris State Men's Golf Ranked 15th Nationally In First Spring Season Poll
The Ferris State University men's golf team will begin the spring portion of its 2009-10 season ranked 15th in the nation according to the first Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll of the spring season.
The national poll, which combines the resources of Golf Digest's Golf World magazine, Nike Golf, and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), was released this Wednesday (Feb. 24) and has the Bulldogs moving up seven places from their previous spot into 15th place with 159 points. FSU was listed 22nd in the final fall season edition of the 2009-10 Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll (Nov. 30).
Ferris State, which is directed by third-year head coach Mike Migano, captured three tournament titles and finished among the top three teams in five of its seven 2009 fall tournaments.
Barry (Fla.) maintained its hold on the number-one national ranking with 438 points and 10 first-place votes while Georgia College and Chico (Calif) State comprised the remaining top three teams in the poll. Georgia College received 398 points and six first-place votes while Chico State totaled 396 points and one first-place vote. The remaining vote of the 18 first-place votes was cast to Central Missouri, which is ranked 12th in the top 25 poll.
This first national poll of the 2010 spring season will appear in the March 1 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfdigest.com.
The Bulldogs will start off their 2010 spring campaign competing at the University of California-San Diego Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament (March 22-23) in Mission Viejo, Calif.
