For the third time in a row, the Ferris State University men's golf team earned second-place honors in a tournament as the Bulldogs produced a two-round 50-over par 626 team score at the Findlay Invitational this weekend (April 16-17) in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs opened play with a 316-stroke total in Friday's (April 16) play before firing a tourney second-round best 310 score to garner runner-up honors.  Grand Valley State won the tournament by tallying a 616 score (+40) on the par 72, 7,155-yard Red Hawk Run Golf Club Course.

Tops among FSU's golfers was senior Craig Burrows (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Olmstead Falls), who fired a 154 (81-73=154, +10) to tie for seventh place.  Senior Kurt Valley (Bay City/Western) and junior Garrett Simons (Grand Ledge) both tied for 13th place as a result of producing 157 scores.  Valley (78-79=157, +13) and Simons (81-76=157, +13) shared the placing with one other individual.

Claiming a share of 18th place was senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos, Lansing Catholic Central), who shot a 159 (77-82=159, +15).  Junior Joe Brown (St. Ignace/LaSalle) was one stroke back of Lilleboe with a 21st-place tying 160-stroke total (77-83=160, +16) and participated in a non-scoring capacity.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was senior Pat Steffes (Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Spring).  Competing in only his second tournament of this season, Steffes netted a 164 (80-84=164, +20) which tied him with four others for 34th place.

Previous to this weekend's action, Ferris State turned in a pair of second-place showings at the NCAA-II Midwest Region Tournament II-The Jewell (April 2-3) in Georgetown, Ky., and also at the NCAA-II Midwest Region Tournament III (April 11-12) in Noblesville, Ind.

Next action for Ferris State is April 24-25 at the Michigan State Fossum/Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.
