Ferris State Basketball Hosts Rival GVSU On Thursday Night At Wink Arena

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads will open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at home on Thursday night (Dec. 1) as the Bulldogs host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The women's game tips off first at 5:30 p.m. (ET) with the men's game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. (ET).

Both the Bulldogs and the Lakers enter the women's matchup ranked among the top 20 teams in the country as GVSU is tops in the nation with FSU tied for 20th in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Top 25 poll. Both teams are also unbeaten at 5-0 to date this year.

Last season, Ferris State knocked off GVSU in the GLIAC Tournament Championship game en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance. The Lakers were picked to win the GLIAC with FSU listed second overall.

Following the women's game, the Bulldog men will take the floor riding a four-game winning streak. FSU is 4-2 overall with the Lakers holding a 3-4 mark in the first season under new head coach Cornell Mann. The Bulldogs were picked to repeat atop the league standings this year.

Along with Thursday's action, the Bulldogs will also host another West Michigan foe in Davenport in a conference twinbill on Sunday (Dec. 4) inside Wink Arena. Sunday's women's game starts at 1 p.m. (ET) with the men to follow at 3 p.m. (ET). The home doubleheader was moved back a day both due to staffing and logistical challenges in addition to accommodating fans wishing to attend the Bulldogs' NCAA Division II National Quarterfinal football game at rival Grand Valley State.

All of this week's action will be carried live by local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with online coverage available at FerrisStateBulldogs.com. Pregame coverage begins a half-hour prior to each women's game.

Additionally, all four home games will also be streamed live on a pay-per-view basis by FloSports as part of the GLIAC's new streaming package.

Tickets for all 2022-23 home men's and women's basketball contests can be purchased in advance online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com/Tickets.
